Types of Bees

There are many different Types of bees that are suitable for beekeeping, but the most common species kept by hobbyist beekeepers are the Western honey bee (Apis mellifera) and the Eastern honey bee (Apis cerana). These species are widely distributed and have a long history of domestication.
