Whole Wheat Honey Walnut Cake

Ingredients:

  • 140g whole wheat flour
  • 65g butter (softened)
  • 4 tbsp sugar (powdered for better mixing)
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ cup walnuts (dry roasted & chopped)
  • ½ cup lukewarm water (or milk, as needed)
  • ¼ cup milk powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • ¼ cup chocolate chips (optional, for extra flavor)

Method:

  1. Prepare the dry ingredients: In a mixing bowl, sift together whole wheat flour, baking powder, and baking soda. Set aside.
  2. Cream the butter and sugar: In another bowl, whisk butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the wet ingredients: Mix in honey, milk powder, and vanilla essence. Beat well until the mixture is smooth.
  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients: Gradually fold in the dry ingredients, adding lukewarm water or milk as needed to achieve a smooth, thick batter.
  5. Add mix-ins: Gently fold in the roasted walnuts and chocolate chips (if using).
  6. Bake: Pour the batter into a lined and greased cake tin. Bake in a preheated oven at 160°C for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Cool & Serve: Let the cake cool in the tin for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
